Child Safety Policy
There is exactly one rule on SimplyMe with no context, no nuance and no second chance: no content that sexualises a child. This page explains that stance, what we do to enforce it, and how to report something the moment you see it.

1. Zero tolerance
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation have no place on SimplyMe. When we find them we remove the content immediately, terminate the account permanently, preserve evidence as the law requires, and report to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the relevant law-enforcement agency.
There is no appeal path that restores an account removed for CSAM. We would rather lose a user than get this wrong.
2. Minimum age
- SimplyMe is for people aged 13 and over.
- In countries where the law sets a higher age for processing a young person’s data, for example 16 in parts of the EU, that higher age applies.
- We ask for date of birth at sign-up, apply age-estimation signals, and require additional verification where the signals conflict.
- Accounts we determine belong to someone below the applicable age are removed, along with their content.
3. How teen accounts are protected
Accounts we know or believe belong to someone under 18 get stricter defaults:
- The account is private by default; followers must be approved.
- Direct messages from people they do not follow are off.
- They do not appear in adult members’ suggested-follow lists.
- Precise location tagging is disabled.
- Sensitive content is filtered out of discovery, not just screened.
- Comment filtering and unkind-comment warnings are on.
- Monetisation and creator payouts are unavailable until 18.
- Sensitive AI features that publish publicly are limited.
- Break reminders and daily time limits are on by default.
4. What is prohibited
- Any sexual depiction of a minor, whether photographic, drawn, animated, edited or AI-generated.
- Sexualised commentary about a minor, including on innocent images.
- Grooming: building trust with a minor for sexual purposes, soliciting images, or moving a conversation off-platform for that purpose.
- Sextortion, or threatening to share a minor’s images.
- Trafficking, or advertising a minor for any form of exploitation.
- Sharing links, file names, coded terms or directories that point to CSAM anywhere on the internet.
- Content that depicts or facilitates physical abuse, neglect or endangerment of a child, including harmful challenges.
- Non-sexual images of minors posted with predatory intent, or collections of such images.
5. How we detect and respond
- Reports, reviewed by people. Detection today is driven by what people report to us. We do not currently match uploads against databases of known CSAM and we do not run an automated CSAM classifier. We are not required to search for this material, but we are required to act on it and report it once we know, and that is what we do. If we deploy hash matching, we will say so here first.
- A dedicated child-safety review team with escalation paths, trained on trauma-informed practice.
- Priority reporting: reports tagged as child safety jump the queue and are reviewed within hours.
- Ban-evasion detection so removed offenders cannot simply return.
- Cooperation with law enforcement on valid legal process, and proactive reporting where we are permitted or required to report.
6. How to report
- Use the report option on the post, profile, comment or message and choose Child safety. This routes straight to the specialist queue.
- Or email safety@simplyme.app with links. Please do not attach or forward the material itself. A link or username is enough, and forwarding can be unlawful.
- Do not share, repost or quote the content to raise awareness. Report it and leave it.
- You can report anonymously. We do not tell the account who reported them.
7. For parents and guardians
- You can ask us to remove an account belonging to your child, and to delete its content, by writing to safety@simplyme.app.
- You can request a copy of the data associated with your child’s account, subject to verification and to your child’s own privacy where they are old enough to have a say.
- Under the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act we require verifiable parental consent before processing the personal data of a child under 13, and we never run behavioural tracking or targeted advertising on children.
- Our supervision tools let a linked guardian see time spent, who their teen follows, and their privacy settings, without reading their private messages.
